No fewer than 645 students will convocate as Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, (OYSCHST) Eleyele, Ibadan marks its 90th Founder’s Anniversary.Governing Council Chairman of the institution, Dr. Aaron Ogundiwin, said the 90th anniversary is to showcase the potential of the College to the world.
Speaking in Ibadan at a briefing to usher in the 90th Founder’s Day celebration and convocation ceremony for the award of diplomas, certificates and prizes to the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 graduands of the institution, Ogundiwin noted the institution, formerly known as ‘School of Hygiene’ is the oldest health institution in Nigeria and Africa.
He said the Convocation Lecture, titled: “Sustaining quality health services delivery in the midst of brain drain syndrome in Nigeria” will be delivered by Prof. Kayode Osungbade of the Department of Health Policy and Management, Faculty of Public Health, University of Ibadan (UI).
Acting Provost of the College, Mrs. Oluyemisi Oyewo said the institution is known for quality standards, adding that certificates issued by the institution remain relevant anywhere which makes graduates secure employment after graduation.She said there is an ongoing process to upgrade the institution to Higher National Diploma (HND) awarding institution, urging the State Government to expedite action without further delay on it. Chairman of the 90th anniversary Committee, Prof S.A. Ojewale said the institution teaches public health which gives opportunity to graduates to later venture into other health-related fields, urging students to take their studies serious.
