ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH EXPERT CAUTIONS NIGERIANS ON COVID-19



The Provost, Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele-Ibadan, Mr. Siji Ganiyu has cautioned Nigerians against ignoring precautionary measures for the spread of Corona virus disease. Mr. Ganiyu who gave the warning while featuring on a Television programme in Ibadan said Corona virus is real and people should be very careful.


The Environmental Health expert advised people to be hygienic in their lifestyle by maintaining a clean environment. He advised people not to engage themselves in unnecessary movement in order not to fall victims of corona virus disease. Mr. Siji Ganiyu explained that corona virus cases should not be politicised since life has no duplicate saying if developed Countries of the world could take proactive step to curb the spread of the infectious disease, Nigerians should not trivialize the issue. On the closure of worship centres to contain the spread of the dreadful disease, Mr. Siji Ganiyu affirmatively said life is sacred and it is only those alive that can worship God saying it is just for some time.


Speaking on the effect of the corona virus pandemic on the world economy, he advised people to manage what they have and avoid frivolous and extravagant spending. Mr. Ganiyu tasked Journalists to continue to enlighten and educate the people on the dangers of corona virus and the need to abide by precautionary measures to ensure safety. Mr. Siji Ganiyu commended Oyo State Government for its efforts at protecting people advising people to cooperate with government in its resolve to curb the spread of corona virus. He however warned people against self-medication in the face of corona virus scourge adding that it is only Doctor who can prescribed drugs for use to prevent untimely death.
